The University of Georgia's Fine Arts Building was christened in May 1941 to a design by the Atlanta architects Tucker and Howell, its detailing drawn from Sir John Soane and the Bank of England. The theatre inside seats 678 and is the main stage of the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, which also opens it for music and opera brought in by the university's performing arts programme. A restoration costing 4.5 million dollars reopened the house in 2010.
