Фондация „Гуидо д’Арецо“

The Fondazione Guido d'Arezzo was constituted on 25 August 1983 by the Region of Tuscany, the Province and Municipality of Arezzo and the local Amici della Musica. It began operating in 1985, continuing the international polyphonic competition established in 1952 and the composition competition begun in 1974. Its choral activities include the national Canta Petrarca composition competition, the Nuove Voci per Guido competition for school choirs and training for choir conductors. The foundation has also supported specialist publishing on choral practice and research. In 2018 its responsibilities expanded beyond choral music to encompass a broader programme involving Arezzo's theatres, museums and cultural heritage. Constituted on 25 August 1983 by the Region of Tuscany, the province and the city of Arezzo and the local Amici della Musica, the foundation took over the choral competition those Amici had started in 1952 and began work in 1985. The Concorso Polifonico Internazionale Guido d'Arezzo feeds the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing alongside Maribor, Debrecen, Tours, Varna and Tolosa; a composition prize and a national contest sit beside it.
