Marcel Breuer designed exactly one auditorium in his career, and it is this one — set inside the wing he added to the Cleveland Museum of Art at the turn of the 1970s, where the horizontal granite banding of the exterior gives way indoors to vertical wooden ribs. The room was conceived around the McMyler Memorial Organ and seats some 680 between main floor and balcony. A renovation completed in 2010 by Westlake Reed Leskosky, with the acoustician Paul Scarbrough, extended the stage, reworked seating and sightlines and sharpened the sound while leaving Breuer's intentions legible; the museum marked the reopening with eight weeks of free performances by Cleveland musicians.
