Хаус дер Щадт Дюрен

The Haus der Stadt in Düren opened on 30 September 1991. Designed by Christoph and Brigitte Parade, the multipurpose complex brings together a theatre, library, archives, youth centre and meeting facilities. Its 611-seat theatre presents opera, operetta, ballet, drama and concerts by visiting artists. A flexible floor arrangement also allows the performance room to accommodate balls, exhibitions and fairs. The building unites several public cultural services in one complex, with the theatre forming its principal space for live performance. When Düren opened the Haus der Stadt on 30 September 1991, it gave the town back something lost with the old Stadttheater: a properly equipped stage of its own. Christoph and Brigitte Parade of Düsseldorf designed the complex, which gathers the theatre hall, the municipal library, conference rooms and a youth centre under one roof. Before it was built, the town's theatre seasons had made do with a school assembly hall.
