The Haydnsaal at Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt originated in the late seventeenth-century rebuilding undertaken for Prince Paul I Esterházy. Its ceiling frescoes include scenes from the story of Psyche, while later alterations changed the windows and access to the garden side. Friedrich Rhode contributed grisaille wall decoration during the subsequent remodelling. The name Haydnsaal came into use in the twentieth century, commemorating Joseph Haydn's long association with the Esterházy court. The hall continues to host the palace's concert programme, including events within Herbstgold and classic.Esterhazy. Its baroque decoration remains integral to a room used for orchestral and chamber performances within the historic residence.
