Dinslaken's municipal hall carries the name of Kathrin Türks (1921–1983), who came to the mining town in 1951 to play for the pitmen, founded the Burghofbühne out of that company, and became the first woman in Germany to direct a Schauspielhaus. The building dates from the 1970s; a rebuild finished in September 2021 brought it up to current fire and accessibility standards, kept the raw concrete surfaces, and left a theatre stage with seventeen fly bars. It can run three events at once.
