Кугелбаке Хале

The Kugelbakehalle is a multipurpose events hall in the Döse district of Cuxhaven, at 80 Strandstraße. Its foundation stone was laid on 27 August 1981, and the hall was formally opened on 8 January 1983. The approximately 3,715-square-metre building was developed as a municipal events facility. It accommodates concerts, musical theatre, sports, markets, school celebrations and private functions, with capacity varying according to the event. Its name derives from Cuxhaven's wooden navigation landmark, but the hall is a separate modern building rather than part of the historic beacon. Named for the timber beacon that stands where the Elbe empties into the North Sea — Cuxhaven's emblem, and the last landmark an outbound ship passes — the Kugelbake Halle is the port town's multipurpose building. Concerts, congresses, trade fairs and touring shows share it; there is no resident orchestra and no pretence to being a concert hall.
