The first Kurhaus in the spa park dates from 1843; it was pulled down for a larger house that Emanuel von Seidl designed in Jugendstil and that opened on 1 July 1913. From January 1917 to March 1918 the German high command sat in the building, with Wilhelm II living there and decorating officers in the oval hall. De Gaulle and Adenauer met here in November 1958, Kohl and Mitterrand in 1984. It works today as a hotel whose Ovaler Saal and Grüner Saal take concerts.
