The Oberschwabenhalle is a municipal events venue in Ravensburg, built in 1959 and extended with a foyer and backstage facilities in 2003. Its main floor covers approximately 2,100 square metres, with a fixed spectator stand but no permanent stage, allowing organisers to arrange concerts, exhibitions and other events in different directions. Curtains can subdivide the space, which accommodates up to 5,000 people according to the event layout. The adjoining foyer can function independently or as part of a larger event. Ravensburg, the old imperial city of Upper Swabia with its towers still standing above the roofs, uses the Oberschwabenhalle as the large room its historic centre cannot provide: exhibitions, sport, civic assemblies and concerts in rotation. Orchestral programmes are received there, Mozart's overture to Le nozze di Figaro among the music played.
