Оперна зала – Русе

Across the Danube from Romania, Ruse built itself in the nineteenth century as a river city facing Europe: banks, a theatre and merchants' houses in Viennese dress still line its central streets. The opera house belongs to that inheritance and remains the focus of the city's lyric life. Verdi and Bizet stand near the centre of what is performed there, Nabucco and Carmen among the titles that recur.
