Palma keeps the only full-time symphony orchestra of the Balearic Islands, an ensemble whose reach is archipelagic rather than municipal — Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza all fall within its remit, which means ferries and aircraft form part of the touring plan. Alongside subscription concerts it maintains a chief conductor, an educational programme and a body of players drawn from across Spain and beyond.
