The principal concert hall of the Anderson Center for the Performing Arts, on the Binghamton University campus at Vestal in upstate New York, the Osterhout carries the performance load of a university arts complex: student and faculty recitals, visiting orchestras, chamber series, and the touring ensembles that reach the Southern Tier on their way between the eastern cities. It is a purpose-built room for music rather than an adapted lecture theatre, and the Anderson Center's wider site includes an outdoor amphitheatre used in summer. Osterhout Concert Theater is the largest performance space in Binghamton University's Anderson Center for the Performing Arts, a complex opened in 1985. The venue presents professional touring artists and university performances; it is distinct from the centre's smaller Chamber Hall and Watters Theater.
