Bulgaria's Roman Catholic minority is small but long established, and Pleven's parish church of Our Lady of Fatima serves it in a city better known for its Orthodox and military monuments. Like many Catholic churches in the country it opens its nave for concerts, particularly around Easter and Christmas, when the resident philharmonic of the city can be heard in sacred repertoire under an acoustic quite unlike that of a concert hall.
