The Palace began life as a cinema, le Palace, and worked for decades as cinema and theatre together in bilingual Biel. It holds over 500 seats — the largest theatre auditorium in the region — and has an orchestra pit built deep enough for full opera productions. The Fondation Spectacles français runs it. After a renovation begun in the summer of 2017 the house reopened in December 2018 under a new name, Nebia, chosen to be sayable in French and German alike.
