Tocancipá is a municipality on the high savannah north of Bogotá, at some 2,600 metres, and like every Colombian town it is organised around a main square with the church on one side and the municipal offices on another. Concerts given there are civic events in the plainest sense: the orchestra sets up in the open, the audience stands or brings its own chairs, and Debussy is heard by people who did not have to buy a ticket or travel to the capital.
