Голям театър „Цинтай“

Qintai Grand Theatre opened in Wuhan in 2007. It stands beside Yuehu Lake near the Han River, opposite the Ancient Lute Terrace from which it takes its name. The theatre forms a central part of the Qintai cultural and artistic park. Its main auditorium seats 1,802, while a 360-seat multifunctional hall accommodates smaller events. Rehearsal and exhibition spaces supplement the two performance rooms within a complex of approximately 65,650 square metres. This combination of facilities supports large staged productions and smaller presentations within the same lakeside site. Legend places the meeting of the zither player Bo Ya and the woodcutter Zhong Ziqi — the friendship that gave Chinese the word zhiyin, the listener who understands your music — beside Moon Lake in Hanyang, where a terrace commemorates it. The Qintai Grand Theatre takes its name from that terrace and stands close by, the main house of an arts complex that carries Wuhan's concert and opera seasons together with its touring shows, film-music programmes among them.
