The square came into being with the Stadthalle that opened on 15 September 2007, at the edge of Singen's centre in the parkland left by an earlier state garden show on the Aach. It is the town's open-air room for what will not fit indoors: public viewing during the 2010 World Cup, the closing party of the SWR Tour de Ländle in 2011, the May Day celebration with the food stalls of the town's foreign associations. Kultur & Tourismus Singen, the municipal operator next door, is usually involved.
