Кралска професионална консерватория, Алмерия

The Real Conservatorio Profesional de Música Julián Arcas in Almería provides specialist music education in the Andalusian city. Its present building began receiving music and dance students in the 1987–88 academic year, under the initial direction of the pianist Javier Herreros. The royal inauguration followed in January 1989, and the title Real was granted that June. Music and dance subsequently developed as separate conservatories. The music institution’s teaching includes instrumental and vocal study, ensemble work and theoretical subjects. Spanish conservatoires are graded, and a conservatorio profesional teaches the years below the superior degree — the stage at which a player's technique is actually built. The one in Almería, on the Andalusian coast, holds the title Real. Its auditorium serves student concerts and examinations, and it has been used for teaching of another kind as well, including masterclasses for conductors.
