A medieval keep forms the core of Schloss Matzen, which watches the mouth of the Alpbach valley where it joins the Inn at Brixlegg. Silver and copper from the Tyrolean mines paid for houses like this one. Rebuilt and enlarged across several centuries, it is used today for receptions, exhibitions and concerts at chamber scale, with the Rofan wall of rock filling the windows on one side.
