Roosendaal made its living from the railway, a junction and customs town on the line between Antwerp and Rotterdam through which generations of cross-border traffic passed. De Kring is its theatre and cultural centre, a house of moderate size in the middle of town, programming drama, cabaret, dance and concerts for a Brabant public that could as easily cross into Belgium for an evening out and frequently does.
