Stadthalle Aurich is a performance and events venue on Bürgermeister-Anklam-Platz. Its large and small halls can operate separately or be combined, allowing different arrangements for seated performances and standing concerts. The combined auditorium accommodates up to 790 seated visitors when no front-of-house control position is required. The stage has a proscenium layout and an orchestra pit, with backstage dressing rooms supporting visiting productions. Both halls are accessible without steps. These facilities allow the building to accommodate staged music and theatre as well as other public events. Aurich lets its town hall through a municipal baths-and-halls company, the Auricher Bäder- und Hallenbetriebsgesellschaft. Two rooms — a large one of 465 seats in rows, a small one of 309 — can be thrown together for up to 790, and both are step-free. Music, sport and town festivals share the calendar of this East Frisian district town, and touring orchestras appear in it: the Plovdiv symphony played there in February 2012.
