Pottery gave this corner of the Westerwald its name — the Kannenbäckerland, the land of the jug-bakers — and Ransbach-Baumbach, a town formed from two villages, sits near its centre. The Stadthalle is its indoor gathering place, taking the concerts, ceremonies, dances and touring shows that a small Rhineland-Palatinate town must accommodate in a single room. Operatic galas on the German civic circuit have been among the evenings staged there.
