When the Alte Festhalle at the Stadtgarten grew too small for touring names of international size, Tuttlingen ran a competition in 1997 and built a new hall at the Wöhrdenbrücke to designs by the Stuttgart partnership Heckmann.Kristel.Jung; it opened in May 2002. The Großer Saal takes 840 to 1,050 in rows, 1,800 standing. Tuttlinger Hallen programmes around a hundred events a year here — classical concerts, opera and operetta, musicals, theatre, rock and pop, cabaret and lectures. Stadthalle Tuttlingen opened in 2002 as a cultural and conference venue on Europaplatz.
