The Stefaniensaal in Graz opened on 4 November 1885 with a concert of the Musikverein für Steiermark. Designed by Matthias Seidl and named after Crown Princess Stephanie, it became a principal setting for the society's orchestral concerts and recitals. Alterations begun in 1905 enlarged the hall and the surrounding Congress building. The development added a chamber-music hall, ceremonial staircase, Beethoven monument and glass-domed foyer, completed in 1908. The Stefaniensaal continues to accommodate orchestral programmes, solo recitals, song recitals and concerts for children within the Congress Graz complex.
