Segovia's main square holds the cathedral on one side and, across the paving, the theatre named for Juan Bravo, the comunero leader the city still counts as its own. Francisco Javier Cabello Dodero built it in 1917 on ground previously occupied by the Zarzuela theatre and the Reina Victoria cinema, and it was inaugurated on 26 October 1918. The provincial council bought the house in 1982 and reopened it, rehabilitated, in 1989; it was listed as a protected monument in 2022. It remains the province's chief venue for music, drama and dance.
