The name is the Latin form of Lviv, the Galician city whose musical inheritance the ensemble invokes. It works within the German concert circuit, where Berlin has heard it in the festive programmes that open the concert year — the mixed bills of overtures, dances and arias that traditionally fill the first days of January.
