Bindermichl is a Linz housing district built to meet post-war need, and its Volkshaus is the hall at its centre — plain, generous, used by clubs, schools and choirs, and large enough for an orchestra. The district is known beyond Linz for the motorway that once cut through it, roofed over in the 2000s so that a park could be laid across the top. Symphonic programmes have been given in the hall, Beethoven among them.
