Sioux Falls houses its arts centre in a former high school built of the pink quartzite quarried nearby, converted at the end of the 1990s and now holding a concert hall, a visual arts centre and a science discovery centre beneath one roof. Mary W. Sommervold Hall is the home of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and takes touring opera, recitals and popular attractions besides.
