Recording as Támar, Ashley Támar Davis has moved between popular music, theatre and the concert hall. She worked with Prince, appearing on the album 3121. With Jeremy Nathan Tisser she co-created The Timelapse Project: Origins, which the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro performed at the Tonal Composers Festival in Brasília in 2023. She is from Houston and records as Támar Davis, having begun with Girl's Tyme and later appeared in the tenth season of The Voice; her own albums are My Name Is Támar of 2011 and I Am the Storm of 2016. Origins was named in the song and score category for new media at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards in 2022. Her duet with Prince, Beautiful, Loved and Blessed, was nominated for best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals at the forty-ninth Grammy Awards. Girl's Tyme, the group of her childhood, appeared on Star Search, and she left it before it became Destiny's Child. She acted in Tyler Perry's stage plays Madea's Big Happy Family and A Madea Christmas, sang with Kanye West's choir, and has worked as music supervisor on the series That Damn Michael Che and on the Netflix documentary Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop. She also recorded Milk & Honey with Prince in 2006 and My Name Is Ashley in 2021.
