Чавдар Вълков

Chavdar Valkov appeared with Svetlin Roussev and the Pleven Philharmonic at his jubilee concert on 14 September 2023. A planned concert with Borislava Taneva in March 2020 was cancelled. Born in Pleven in 1973, he studied with Yovka Yordanova at the Panayot Pipkov music school and graduated in 1996 from the National Academy of Music in Sofia in the class of Evelina-Maria Popova. He had joined the Pleven Philharmonic and became its assistant concertmaster in 2000, and in 2002 he founded the chamber orchestra Studio Primo as its musical director and concertmaster. From 1998 he took part in the New York Harlem Theatre's Porgy and Bess tours, becoming concertmaster of that production in 2004.
