Диана Генова

In 2005 and 2006 Diana Guenova appeared as a soloist with the Sofia Philharmonic in its home city, on programmes shared with Raina Kabaivanska, Anna Gemedjieva, Alexander Nosikov and Mark Fowler. A mezzo-soprano, she graduated from the Music Academy in Sofia in 1998, studying voice with the bass-baritone Georgi Genov, and between 1996 and 1998 completed a two-year acting class led by Plamen Kartalov. In 1997 she competed in the Ferruccio Tagliavini competition at Deutschlandsberg and in the Belvedere competition in Vienna; from 2002 to 2004 she attended the Sacra summer academy of Alexandrina Milcheva. Her seasons of 2005 and 2006 were spent in Raina Kabaivanska's masterclass, which closed with the Sofia Philharmonic concerts under Nayden Todorov. She was engaged at the State Opera Stara Zagora in 2006 and 2007 and joined the Sofia National Opera in 2008. Her repertoire includes Fenena, Lola, Maddalena, Mallika in Lakme, the Witch in Hansel und Gretel, and Fricka and Erda in Wagner's Ring.
