Биография
With engagements in Italy — Florence, Verona, Catania — the South Korean soprano Eva Kim Maggio sings the Italian dramatic repertoire. Her connection with Raina Kabaivanska's school brought her into Bulgarian musical life, and in September 2020 she took part in a gala at the Sofia Opera with singers from several countries. Born Eunhee Kim, she graduated from the National University in Seoul and went on in Italy to the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, the Vallotti Academy in Vercelli and the Academy of Opera in Florence. From 2018 she worked with Raina Kabaivanska in the masterclasses at the Vecchi-Tonelli Music Institute and at New Bulgarian University. She has taken prizes at the Adami-Coradetti, Giacomo Prandelli and Riccardo Zandonai competitions and at the Bucharest Grand Prix, and made debuts at the Teatro Bellini in Catania, the Teatro dell'Opera in Florence and the Philharmonic Theatre of Verona. Her repertoire list at the Kabaivanska school includes Mimi, Cio-Cio-San and Tosca, and Leonora in Il trovatore and in La forza del destino, Amelia and Aida. She also performs under the name Eunhee Maggio; she explained that Kabaivanska suggested the surname Maggio and that she subsequently returned to her own first name, Eunhee.
