Биография
Newly graduated from the Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, Eva Mei appeared in Siena as Aspasia in Salieri's Axur, re d'Ormus in 1989. The following year her Konstanze won the Caterina Cavalieri Prize at the Mozart Competition in Vienna, and the Vienna State Opera engaged her in the same role. Born in Fabriano in 1967, she has since sung the Queen of the Night, Donna Anna, the Countess, Violetta and the Rossini and Donizetti heroines at La Scala, Covent Garden, the Berlin and Bavarian state operas, the Salzburg Festival, the Rossini Opera Festival and theatres of Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Japan, working with Harnoncourt, Muti, Mehta and Roberto Abbado. In 2009 she sang in a large opera gala in Solothurn given with State Opera Rousse. Her La Scala debut followed in 1993 as Amenaide in Tancredi, and Covent Garden heard her that same year as the Queen of the Night. Zurich Opera has kept her as a regular guest, adding Alcina, Anna Bolena and Mathilde to the Mozart roles, and she also teaches in masterclasses.
