Евгений Станимиров

From the Vocal Collegium Annunciation in Varna, a choir that has sent several of its members into the professional companies, Evgeni Stanimirov moved to the State Opera Varna, where he sings as a soloist. He appeared in Turandot at the State Opera Burgas in February 2009, and in August 2025 he was cast as Angelotti in the Tosca given at Varna's Summer Theatre, with Sonya Yoncheva in the title role. Born in Varna in 1971, he came to singing by way of a French language secondary school and the University of Economics in his home city, graduating from the State Academy of Music in Sofia in 1997 and then studying at the academy of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan between 1997 and 1999, where he sang in the academy's concerts under Riccardo Muti. He was a prizewinner at the Svetoslav Obretenov national competition in 1995 and at the Giuseppe di Stefano international competition in Trapani in 2001, and sang Ramfis in Aida in Italian theatres in the early 2000s. His Varna debut came in 2003 as Colline in La boheme, and he has been a soloist of the company since April 2004, singing Don Basilio, Sparafucile, Leporello and Raimondo.
