Биография
Orchestral playing, chamber music and solo work have each taken a share of Georgi Spassov's career as a flautist. In June 2000 he recorded two concertos — Mozart's Second, in D major, and Quantz's in G — with the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra for Music Minus One. The orchestra was conducted by Nayden Todorov. He trained at the National Academy of Music in Sofia and then abroad, at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 1974 with Karlheinz Zöller and Aurèle Nicolet and at the Paris Conservatoire in 1978 with Jean-Pierre Rampal and Alain Marion. For four decades he was principal flute of the Sofia Philharmonic, touring the United States with it for two months in 1982 with Mozart's concerto, and he held the same chair in the orchestra of the Accademia Chigiana and in Emil Chakarov's Festival Orchestra. He founded the Summer Academy of Arts at Sozopol and has received the Golden Lyre of the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and the Crystal Necklace.
