Игнасио Енсинас

Lisbon gave Ignacio Encinas his first Alfredo, and the Spanish tenor's repertoire includes Manrico, Ernani, Radamès, Cavaradossi, Calaf and Pollione. He also teaches singing. Born at Grajal de Campos in 1953, he began in zarzuela, appearing early at the Teatro Fortuny in Reus and singing Luisa Fernanda at the Teatro Romea in Barcelona with José María Damunt, whose company kept him as principal tenor for more than fifteen years. From 1990 he divided his work between zarzuela, at the Teatro de la Zarzuela among other houses, and opera. Among his pupils was his son, the tenor Oscar Encinas.
