композитор
Биография
At eight he was living in Mozart's household in Vienna as a pupil, receiving his lessons at first hand, and the European tour that followed made him famous before he was fifteen. Hummel went on to study with Albrechtsberger, Salieri and Haydn, whom he succeeded in the service of the Esterházy court before appointments at Stuttgart and Weimar. He wrote in nearly every genre except the symphony: the Trumpet Concerto of 1803, composed for the newly invented keyed trumpet, and the Septet in D minor are among his works, alongside piano concertos and sonatas. His piano writing influenced Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schumann and the young Liszt. Born in Pressburg, now Bratislava, he died in Weimar in 1837. In London he was taught by Muzio Clementi, and in May 1791 he played at a Salomon concert of Haydn's music; in April 1792 he performed Haydn's A-flat major Piano Trio, Hob. XV:14, with Salomon on violin. He was Konzertmeister to Prince Nikolaus II Esterházy at Eisenstadt from 1804, took the title of Kapellmeister after Haydn's death in 1809 and left the court in 1811; he married the singer Elisabeth Röckel in 1813, held the Stuttgart post from 1816 to 1818 and was at Weimar from 1819, where Goethe became a close friend. Schubert intended his last three piano sonatas for him.
