Лариса Матос

A cellist based in Brasília, Larissa Mattos took her undergraduate degree in cello and master's degree in performance at the Federal University of Minas Gerais and studied further in Bologna. Born in Belo Horizonte, she joined the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional Claudio Santoro in 2014 and taught at the University of Brasília from 2017 to 2019, combining performance with research and community work. With that orchestra she was the soloist on 1 August 2023 in a Brasília programme of twenty-first-century music that included Jessica Carter's concerto Rancor and Triumph. In 2009 she played at Carnegie Hall with the YouTube Symphony Orchestra under Michael Tilson Thomas. With violist Cindy Folly she formed Duo Chordata; their work on twentieth- and twenty-first-century repertoire led to a published catalogue of music for viola and cello.
