Laurent Chauvineau appeared in Gounod's Faust at the Sofia Opera on 6 June 2002. Laurent Chauvineau was a French tenor from Poitiers. Trained first as an organist, he studied singing at the conservatoire of his native city while reading English, Italian and Spanish, then continued at the school of the Opera de Marseille, CNIPAL. He was a prize-winner at the Belvedere competition in Vienna and took a first prize at Beziers, and sang Don Jose, Mario in Tosca and the title role of Werther in France, Monaco, Belgium, Italy and Georgia. His death was announced in September 2013.
