Adele, Oscar, Despina, Papagena, Musetta are among Maria Nazarova's roles at the Vienna State Opera, whose ensemble she joined in 2016. Born in 1988 in Dnepropetrovsk, she took her degree at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in Moscow in 2010, continued at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and in 2013 entered the opera studio of the Vienna Conservatory; a Novomatic scholarship carried her from there into the house on the Ring. First prize at the Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino came in 2015. She sang Oscar in Un ballo in maschera at Plácido Domingo's fiftieth-anniversary gala in May 2017 and made her Teatro alla Scala debut as Adele in Die Fledermaus in February 2018, and has appeared at the Bolshoi and the Salzburg Festival. In September 2025 she returned to Salzburg for Opera and the Ottoman Imagination — Along the Silk Road, a concert at the International Mozarteum Foundation, a programme that set Mozart's Turkish and Oriental subjects beside Verdi, Bizet, Rossini, Saint-Saëns, Massenet, Rimsky-Korsakov, Offenbach and Puccini.
