Мауро Маур

Mauro Maur recorded trumpet solos for Ennio Morricone over more than eighteen years. Born in Trieste in 1958 and trained at the conservatory there, he went on to Paris and the class of Pierre Thibaud, and afterwards to Northwestern University in Chicago, where he worked with Adolph Herseth, Vincent Cichowicz and Arnold Jacobs. He was appointed first trumpet of the Toulouse orchestra under Michel Plasson while still a student, and from 1985 to 2010 held the same chair in the orchestra of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, playing under Bernstein, Muti, Ozawa and Boulez. His discography includes classical trumpet repertoire and film music. On 19 October 2013 he was the soloist in The music in the movies, a film-music programme given at Oderzo with State Opera Rousse, shared with the pianist Françoise de Clossey and Giuseppe Esposito.
