Michael Hayes sang in the Aida that the State Opera Stara Zagora brought to Wichita on 11 March 2005, appearing in a cast with Rodney Miller, Jivko Peychev, Janitza Nesheva and Biser Georgiev. Hayes sang Radames. The rest of his work runs from Verdi through Strauss to Korngold: Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, again with Wichita Grand Opera, Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos with Toledo Opera, Herodes in Salome with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, Canio in Pagliacci with Knoxville Opera, Don José in Carmen with Opera Santa Barbara, Rodolfo in La bohème with Fresno Grand Opera, and Paul in Die tote Stadt.
