Михаела Берова

Michaela Berova appeared with State Opera Varna at the Balchik Classic Days festival in July 2022, singing Carmen's Habanera and joining Yana Kostova in Rossini's cat duet. She was born in Stara Zagora on 9 March 1988 and took her first training as a clarinettist at the Hristina Morfova music school there, in the class of Zlatko Stoychev, before reading classical singing at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia with Prof. Ivanka Ninova, with whom she also completed postgraduate study; masterclasses followed with Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Larissa Gergieva, Stefka Mineva, Emil Ivanov and Olivier Doria. She first stepped onto the Varna stage in 2011, sang at State Opera Stara Zagora from the 2014/2015 season to 2016/2017, and became a soloist of State Opera Varna in 2017/2018. Her parts include Amneris, Eboli, Azucena, Carmen, Suzuki, Olga, Fenena and Madalena, and in 2016 she was a laureate of the Art Stars competition in Varna.
