Биография
Flute was Miroslav Danev's first instrument, and his composing never lost the flautist's sense of breath and phrase-length. Much of his working life was spent at Bulgarian National Radio, where as a sound engineer he made a very large number of studio and concert recordings and became a trusted pair of ears for orchestras, soloists and producers — work that leaves no name on a concert bill but is audible in everything it touched. His own music, written between the mid-1980s and the late 2000s, is predominantly instrumental: pieces for symphony and for string orchestra, a wind quintet, a string quartet, sonatas and piano works, with the Sonata for flute or violin and piano and the orchestral Aeon among those most often played. He died in 2017. He graduated from the Bulgarian State Conservatory in flute in 1983, attended as a student the composition courses of Marin Goleminov and took part in a composition master class organised by Ton de Leeuw at an international atelier of the Gaudeamus foundation, and from 1987 worked as a sound engineer and music consultant of the recording studio of Bulgarian National Radio; among his orchestral works are Aeon, Via Dolorosa, the Passacaglia and Toccata and the Rhapsody for violin and orchestra, and he was born in Sevlievo on 9 October 1958. The orchestral list also takes in Choreographic Frescoes and a Suite for flute and orchestra, and the music travelled to Czechia, Georgia, Germany, France, Japan, Russia, Britain and the United States. Among those who played it were the pianist Lyudmil Angelov, the violinist Vanya Milanova, the flautist Hristo Hristov, the Sofia Soloists, the Symphony Orchestra of Bulgarian National Radio and the Sofia Philharmonic, and a number of his scores were published in New York by Seesaw Music Corp.
