Нико Исаков

Five seasons at the State Opera Varna from 1989, then Sofia by competitive audition in 1994 — Niko Isakov's career has run between the two poles of Bulgarian operatic life. At the Sofia Opera, where he appears as a guest soloist, he has sung more than thirty principal baritone roles in the Italian, French, Russian and Bulgarian repertoire, with Verdi and Puccini at the centre of it. He holds the title of professor, and a number of the singers he trained now work professionally. In 2020 the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers gave him its Golden Lyre.
