Петър Данаилов

Petar Danailov's busiest documented season was 2002, when he sang repeatedly in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia with State Opera Plovdiv, at home and on the company's tours to Germany and the United Kingdom. He was later heard in Bizet's Carmen and Gounod's Faust, in concert programmes with the Classic FM Orchestra, and in Verdi's Il trovatore with State Opera Rousse. He graduated from the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in 1995 in the class of Sabin Markov, studied with Ghena Dimitrova from 1996 and in her Sofia masterclass of 1998, after which he was invited as a soloist of the Sofia National Opera. In 2000 he took the first prize, the gold medal and the audience award at the Boris Christoff competition in Sofia, and in the same year won auditions in Klagenfurt, which then engaged him as a guest for five consecutive seasons; he went on to a contract as a soloist of the Bonn opera, and from there to Hamburg, Mannheim, Oslo, Athens and Split. Some forty opera titles stand in his repertoire. In Plovdiv he is a leading soloist, vocal coach of the company chorus, and teaches opera singing at New Bulgarian University.
