Петер Микулаш

Fifty bass roles and more have passed through Peter Mikuláš's voice at the Slovak National Theatre, whose opera company he joined in 1978 and to which he has belonged as an external member since 2021. Nitra-born and trained at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, he won the Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary and took prizes in Moscow and Helsinki, and his repertoire runs from Mozart and Beethoven through Verdi and Wagner to Janáček and Mussorgsky and on into the twentieth century; the Slavic operas and the great vocal-symphonic scores are the ground he is most closely associated with. Prague's National Theatre has been a second home, and he has sung at the Metropolitan Opera, the Rome Opera, the national opera in Amsterdam and the Berlin State Opera. Born in 1954, he teaches at the Bratislava academy that trained him.
