Ричард Стюарт

At nine Richard Carson Steuart took up the trumpet; while still a boy he was playing in wind bands and on Canadian radio and television, and at twenty-two he won the audition for principal trumpet of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In 1979 he took the same position with the Bamberger Symphoniker, and prizes at the international trumpet competitions in Munich and Geneva followed in 1980 and 1981. Orchestral and solo work with the Bamberg orchestra, with German and Swiss radio orchestras and with the Munich Philharmonic has run alongside a life in brass chamber music: he was among the early participants in the development of German Brass, and founded Munich Brass and the International Brass Virtuosi. He plays historical and modern instruments in a repertoire reaching from Baroque and Classical concertos to symphonic, film, jazz and popular music, has recorded for RCA, BMG, Sony and EMI, and works also as conductor, producer and teacher.
