Рихард Видл

As a boy Richard Wiedl sang in the Tölzer Knabenchor, as member and as soloist, taking part in recordings and productions that included work with Nikolaus Harnoncourt. He studied afterwards at the Richard Strauss Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik in Munich, won the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang in Berlin and was engaged at the Stadttheater Würzburg, where Zsupán in Gräfin Mariza brought him an early success. Freelance since 1996, he has appeared at Oper Leipzig, the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater in Schwerin, the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater and the Kammeroper Hamburg, working chiefly in operetta and the character tenor repertoire, in concert and in church music.
