Stefan Danailov (1942–2019) worked across Bulgarian theatre, cinema and television, while also teaching generations of actors. He graduated from the theatre academy in Sofia and began his professional career in Plovdiv. He joined the Bulgarian Army Theatre in 1973 and the Ivan Vazov National Theatre in 1979. His television role in Na vseki kilometar brought him wide recognition. From 1988 he taught acting at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts, becoming a professor in 1999. He served as Bulgaria's Minister of Culture from 2005 to 2009. Stefan Danailov, one of the best-known Bulgarian actors of his generation, spent his career at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and in the cinema of Bulgaria and of Italy, and taught as professor at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia. He served as Minister of Culture between 2005 and 2009. He died in 2019.
